How To Take Apart Singer 7469 Confidence Quilter Sewing Machine

My husband was trying to repair his jeans by taking a good pocket off of one pair of Levi’s and replacing a bad pocket on another pair. In the process of going over a really thick fold at the top of the pocket, the thread got tangled, which in turn caused the machine to jam up and unseat the bobbin casing. The needle wouldn’t come out, so I had to remove it gently from the needle bar and then cut the yarn to see what was going on. Needless to say, this also changed the timing on the machine. After getting the bobbin case back in place, the hook race would no longer catch the needle and bobbin thread.

Setting the timing on this machine wasn’t really as hard as getting the body to open. We found a really good tutorial by a professional on how to set the timing (link below), so we felt no need to redo that part, but unlike older models, where you can unscrew one small panel and get right to the bar that controls the timing, with the Singer 7469 Confidence Quilter you have to remove an entire side of the machine, which involves removing several screws around the body and finding the latches to pop it apart.

The following is a video on how to take the 7469Q apart and shows you the timing rod. Below the video is the link to the video we used to set the timing.
