Apparently, this is a common problem on Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
You’re on a website that is well established, but this message displays:
The owner of [url] has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website…
The fix is to go into AVG settings and temporarily disable AVG protection.
- Open AVG
- On the Options menu, click Advanced settings.
- Select Temporarily disable AVG protection in the menu on the left side.
- Click the Temporarily disable AVG protection button.
- Choose how long you want the protection to be disabled and whether to disable the Firewall as well, and then click OK.
A friend was trying to buy something on eBay and kept getting this notification in every browser, but turning AVG off did the trick!
